Enable Text Messaging Alerts Through SmartHub

Through ALP’s SmartHub app customers can receive notifications through email and text message. Last summer, MRES informed ALP of an EEA in its service territory. Thankfully no service interruptions occurred, but ALP had little time to inform customers who would be impacted. ALP used social media and its website to warn customers of the possibility of a planned outage, but with SmartHub notifications turned on, customers could be notified more quickly by text and email.

Power Supply service disruptions have not happened in ALP’s service territory, but other planned outages for maintenance do occur from time to time. Through Smarthub customers can receive some advanced warning that these outages are about to take place and how long they can be expected to last.

Customers can receive all the benefits of SmartHub by downloading the SmartHub app through their phones’ app store or creating an account online at alputilities.com/smarthub.

Customers currently signed up should check their settings under “Manage Contacts” to confirm they are enrolled and receiving messages through e-mail and/or text notifications.

ENABLE TEXT MESSAGING THROUGH THE SMARTHUB APP:

In the SmartHub app, go to More > Settings > Contact Methods > Add New Contact Method > Input mobile number > Turn Receive Text Messages on and click Continue.

If your mobile number is already listed under Verified Contacts, select the mobile number and turn Receive Text Messages on.

If you agree with the terms & conditions, select Accept, then enter the verification code that you receive to verify and activate your mobile number.

ENABLE TEXT MESSAGING ON THE SMARTHUB WEBSITE:

In the SmartHub site select Notifications > Manage Contacts > Add Phone Contact > Input mobile number > select Receive Text Messages and click Continue.

If your mobile number is already listed, click Edit and select Receive Text Messages.

If you agree with the terms & conditions, select Accept, then enter the verification code that you receive to verify and activate your mobile number.
