Alexandria, MN – March 31, 2026 – ALP Utilities has been recognized by the American Public Power Association (APPA) for excellence in both reliability and safety, earning the Platinum Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)® designation and the Diamond-Level Safety Awards of Excellence, APPA’s highest honor.
The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. ALP Utilities joins more than 250 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation.
“Receiving an RP3 designation is a great honor and a testament to the work these utilities are doing to follow industry best practices,” said Jeremy Ash, Chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel and General Manager at Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Kansas. “These designees have distinguished themselves as committed to pursuing excellence and perpetual improvement for the benefit of their communities.”
“For ALP, this recognition reflects important work our team does every day,” said Ted Cash, General Manager of ALP Utilities. “Reliability and safety go hand in hand. They require planning, training and disciplined operations year after year. We’re proud of our team for the professionalism and commitment they bring to serving Alexandria.”
“In Public Power, safety excellence isn’t achieved by chance. It’s earned through unwavering discipline, strong leadership, and a culture where every team member looks out for one another,” said Jon Beasley, Chair of APPA’s Safety Committee and Vice-President of Electric Cities of GA. “These Safety Award recipients stand as proof that commitment and consistency save lives, strengthen communities, and set the benchmark for our entire industry,”
