Alexandria Light and Power wants bill payments to be as quick and easy for customers as possible. That's why we offer several different payment methods and locations for paying your bill.
Automatic payment from checking
Payments can be made by automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account. When you sign up for this service, ALP will deduct your monthly bill from your bank account on the last business day of the month. The automatic payment plan will help you in several ways:
- Saves you time because there are fewer checks to write.
- Helps meet your commitment in a convenient and timely manner - even if you are on vacation or out of town.
- Maintains good credit - your payment is always on time and there are not lost or misplaced statements.
- Saves postage.
Download Automatic Payment Form or call us to have an application mailed to you.

Budget Billing
Alexandria Light and Power has budget billing available to customers that have electric heat and own their own homes. Customers with electric heat have higher electric bills during the winter months and lower bills the other times of the year. These fluctuations can make budgeting for your utility bill difficult.
ALP's budget billing program allows you to even out your energy costs over the course of a year through a fixed payment each month. With this payment plan, you will not experience high bill surprises in the months you use the most electricity and your budget is easier to manage. We reconcile your account at the end of each year.
To qualify for this program, we need at least 12 months of utility history at your current residence and your balance must be current. Your budget payment is due on or before the due date on your bill. If you are interested, we need a signed Budget Plan Agreement to start you on this program. If you have any questions about this program, call (320) 763-6501.
