How do I get utility service if I am moving in to Alexandria?
To start your utility service you will need to stop by our office. If you have had utility service, in your name, with ALP before you may call us at 320-763-6501. Service will be transferred in to your name dependent upon good payment history with us on previous and/or existing accounts.

I am moving, what do I need to do about my utilities?
Call us, preferably two to seven days, before you are planning to move. We will schedule your meter(s) to be read and get a forwarding address for your final utility bill. If you fail to notify us that you have moved, you will remain responsible for the account, even after you have moved.

We leave our home, unoccupied, for several months each winter and travel south. Do we need to pay for utilities while no one is living there?
There will continue to be a monthly minimum electric and water bill due. The minimum electric rate is $7.14. The minimum water rate is $9.38 or $11.32 based on the size of water line you have running to your home. To find out what your minimum water rate is please feel free to contact us.

The sewer charge and storm water fee will remain fixed. The sewer charge will remain $16.00 and the storm water fee, $2.50

Do you allow extensions if I can’t pay my bill by the due date?
Please contact our office if you can not pay your bill. Our staff will will work with you to arrange a payment schedule if you can’t pay your bill in full by the due date.
