ALP strives to provide more than essential utilities to our community. We show our commitment to the community by supporting many civic activities.
Christmas Lighting
ALP provides the City with Christmas lighting each year during the holiday season. ALP owns, maintains, puts up and takes down, the decorations each year. The City Street Department and Park Department employees also help to change bulbs and put up the decorations. The lights are turned on when Santa “pulls the switch” at the annual lighting ceremony sponsored by theAlexandria Museum. This ceremony is held each year the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Awake the Lakes
ALP is one of the many volunteers that helps produce Alexandria’s Memorial Day
weekend festival, Awake the Lakes. This festival is organized and sponsored by the
Chamber of Commerce and “officially” opens the summer season on the lakes in and around Alexandria. “Awake the Lakes” activities include a full carnival with rides, games andfood vendors.
Community Night Out
Each August, ALP staff helps out with Alexandria’s Community Night Out. The Alexandria Police Department and others provide an educational evening of the services the City of Alexandria provides as well as crime preventative information. Stop by, ALP will give you
a bucket truck ride!
