Alexandria city water customers can turn off their water
ALP water customers who have been running their taps to avoid frozen pipes can now turn them off. We feel the ground has now thawed to the point that there is no longer a danger of your service line freezing.
Over 250 customers were running their water continuously over the past 2 months and our water department has thawed over 80 frozen lines.
Customers who have been running their water have and will continue to see an adjustment to their bills for the extra usage through April 23, 2014. After April 23, 2014 customers will not get a credit for running water unless they have been instructed to by a member of ALP's water department.
If you have any questions, please contact ALP Utilities at 320-763-6501.
ALP Utilities has received recent calls from customers who have been contacted by scammers using cons to get personal information or cash in fraudulent ways.
The scam involves callers asking customers to pay their utility bill with pre-paid debit/credit cards or asking for their personal financial information. The scammers are trying to defraud customers. They often target people who are fearful their electricity may be turned off unless they comply immediately.
You should always think twice before providing account or personal and financial information to anyone unless you are positive you know they are legitimate. Before you do anything, hang up and call ALP Utilities at 320-763-6501 to ask questions about anyone contacting you about your bill or claiming to be from the utility.
The most important thing is to know these are not typical calls an ALP Utilities staff would make, if you have any questions please call 763-6501 to verify!
ALP Utilities receives national recognition for reliable electric operations
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 7, 2014-- ALP Utilities is one of 184 of the nation's more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) designation from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. The RP3 designation lasts for three years and ALP Utilities joins the 94 utilities that earned the designation this year.
"We're honored to receive the RP3 designation," said Al Crowser, General Manager of ALP Utilities. "Our past and present utility staff have put in a lot of hard work to serve this community. RP3 represents a much appreciated recognition of this hard work."
