ALP Utilities receives national recognition for reliable electric operations

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 7, 2014-- ALP Utilities is one of 184 of the nation's more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.

The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. The RP3 designation lasts for three years and ALP Utilities joins the 94 utilities that earned the designation this year.

"We're honored to receive the RP3 designation," said Al Crowser, General Manager of ALP Utilities. "Our past and present utility staff have put in a lot of hard work to serve this community. RP3 represents a much appreciated recognition of this hard work."

Frozen Water Line Update

Water lines in Alexandria continue to freeze. Please don't be misled by warmer weather. The frost is between 7 and 8 feet deep and continues to go deeper. This issue will remain with us through March and perhaps into April.

As of March 7th ALP Utilities has experienced over 40 frozen water lines with over 200 of our water customers running water constantly at their home or business. Please check your water temperature on your cold tap. To check your water temperature; turn on a cold water faucet in your home and let it run for 10 minutes to stabilize the temperature. Once the water temperature has stabilized, place a thermometer in the stream to get an accurate reading. If the water is 40 degrees or lower, keep running water and notify ALP. Thank you for your continued help with this issue!
